A Girl And A Goat

How appropriate to have the first experience I share with you all be centered around my favorite and most talked about subject. The one thing that, if good enough, can put a smile on your face. Can make your sad days get better. Can bring two strangers together around 8:30 PM to later find out they are meant to be. Im not talking sex here; it’s food, my friends, and it’s something that I have a true passion in.

No, I am not a depressive eater, and no, I don’t rely on it for my happiness (that’s what FRIENDS re-runs are for) but it certainly gets me excited. This passion of mine was all reiterated this weekend in Chicago on Saturday night.

I fell in love with a girl and a goat.

No, I am not a lesbian, and no, I don’t have some sick obsession/guilty pleasure with goats. But I surely love what top chef winner Stephanie Izard has created at one of Chicagolands hottest restaurants, Girl & The Goat.

The atmosphere, the drinks, the entrees… everything exquisite. My favorite? The octopus mixed with bacon and some other ingredients that I can’t pronounce. As for dessert, this blueberry crumble concoction came in a tie with a “wow what is this” creamy cheesecake.

Needless to say, Girl & The Goat has been placed on my “go back to this unreal place” list. If anyone wants to accompany me, let me know. I just can’t promise I’ll save you any octopus.
