Being Straight and Having a Man Crush – Vol. 2
I don’t enjoy reading. In fact, I can only recall a handful of books I have actually read (The Catcher in the Rye, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Brave New World, Frankenstein, The Stranger, Frindle and The Five People You Meet in Heaven). In high school, I would often pay someone to write my English papers for me as I had no interest in reading the books assigned.
It takes something/someone special for me to want to read. For the past year or so, there has been someone special: Ryan O’Connell. Ryan is a writer for Thought Catalog, a blog that as the site says, “is a place for relevant and relatable non-fiction and thought. “
To be honest, I started Today I Fell In Love because of Thought Catalog and Ryan O’Connell. I consider Thought Catalog to be a parent to Today I Fell In Love even though they have no idea we exist (OMG!!! Today I Fell In Love is a bastard child!)
Anyway, back to Ryan. I look forward to his posts every day. I’ve never felt as connected to someone’s words as the ones he creates. He speaks for our generation (20-somethings) in a way no one else does.
I have a man crush on Ryan O’Connell. Everything he writes, I love. He says the things I wish I knew how to say. He gives me advice on how to live a happier life. Whether it is a list of things I should know or an article on How To Be The Best Version of Myself, he knows how to connect with my emotions even more so than people I call friends.
Today I fell in love with Thought Catalog writer, Ryan O’Connell…oh and Chelsea Fagan…she’s great too.
