Asking “Why?&#...

The Chicago Blackhawks are in the Stanley Cup and being a native Chicagoan, this is a HUGE deal.  We love our city and we love our sports.   And though I’m rooting for the Hawks to win Lord Stanley and was extremely excited while I watched the triple OT game Wednesday night, I can’t...

Fall Out Boy –...

This is my favorite song off Fall Out Boy’s new “comeback” album which will be released on April 15th.  I love this song and have it on repeat. Side note: I saw them perform recently and Patrick’s voice truly hits all of these notes. Enjoy!

What I Want

What do you want?  Right now, in this moment, what is it that you want?  I’m not kidding, stop reading right now and decide.  If you can have anything in the world, what would it be?  (Seriously, stop reading until you’ve figured it out). I’m sure some of you decided you’d love to...

Extras In My Life

I woke up this morning to the sun beaming through the blinds.  It felt as warm as the coffee I was about to consume, yet nowhere near as dark.  I had my breakfast of eggs and juice, washed up, put on my clothes, and was out the door.  The day was beautiful, a clear sign that the rest of my week would be as well.  Instead of hopping on the subway at 14th and 1st as I usually do, I decided to let my feet do the thinking.  “Today, you will be late to work!” my feet shouted from below…and so I continued to walk. Now I’m sitting here in Union Square contemplating how I got here.  Not the steps of my day which lead me here but...

Remembering Sweetnes...

It’s so hard to forget pain, but it’s even harder to remember sweetness.  We have no scar to show for happiness.  We learn so little from peace. - Chuck Palahniuk I remember crying. Gazing at the sky with each star daring me to run away. I remember feeling scared. That hope,...

MACKLEMORE & RY...

I’ve heard about the song SAME LOVE for a couple weeks but never got around to listening to it.  Today, I did listen to the song…and then I listened to it again, and then again, and then again, and then I purchased it on iTunes and continued to listen to it on repeat.  It’s...

Being Alive

I often find myself thinking that I am infinite and will live forever.  No, I don’t just think this way, I believe this way. “Sure, some people live life fast and die young but I’m the exception,” I’ll tell myself.   “I’m going to be around to see the iPhone 3,275s.  Oh and...

Art from Art from Ar...

Below is a poem I wrote this afternoon.  Inspiration for this poem came from a movie.  And inspiration for the movie came from a poem.  My poem could not have been completed the way that it was without two other works of art and because of this I have fallen in love with Art from Art from...

The Dash

The Dash by Linda Ellis copyright 1996 I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone, from the beginning…to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what...

Moments of Happiness

I will never be completely happy…but I will have moments of happiness. There will always be something I wish I could have done, wish I had time to do, or wish I had never done. In life, time is of the essence. Our time, though seemingly great, can and will cease to exist. So as we continue to age, how are we supposed to spend our remaining days? What actually matters in this short life that we live? You may believe that a devotion to a greater being, or karma, or that loving thy family matters. But logically speaking, I see these ideas as theories more so than fact. Believing and acting in the name these theories is a fine way...

Jealousy

By the constant advertising of oneself through social networking, it becomes impossible to not feel jealous of my friends and family at times.  From seeing a picture on Facebook of my family all out at dinner to seeing a tweet from a friend who’s having “the best time ever” in Vegas, I often times feel like I’m missing out on life. “What did I do today to make my life better?” is a question I often ask myself.  But most of the time, it’s hard to think of the answer as I find myself distracted by the social media post of how my friends and family are enjoying their lives.  Then I begin to feel like I’m missing opportunities...

Scheduling

How many of you have a list of “Things to Do” on your phone?  I know I do.  I’d love to learn how to ice skate, learn another language, learn how to play an instrument, get in better shape, keep my girlfriend, read a good book, enjoy time with friends as well as enjoy personal time and...
